Impact of Cluster Front Line Demonstrations on Productivity and Profitability of Pigeonpea under NFSM in Beed District of Maharashtra, India

Background: Pulses are the integral part of many diets across globe and they have great potential to improve human health, conserve our soils, protect environment contribute global food security. India is largest producer, consumer importer pulses in world. Pigeonpea an important pulse crop that plays role nutritional security people developing countries contributing protein intake. It a soil building being leguminous crop, fixes atmospheric nitrogen through symbiotic fixation, there by helps N cycling within ecosystem. Method: Cluster frontline demonstrations on BDN 711 variety pigeonpea were conducted bsy Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khamgaon Beed District, Maharashtra State. demonstration during 2019-20 2022-23 80 ha area 200 number total demonstrations. released Vasantarao Naik Marathada Vidyapeeth resistant wilt, drought tolerant suitable for medium type soils. Improved cultivation practices demonstrated at farmer’s field four consecutive years active participation farmers with objective improved technologies production potentials. Results: The result concluded average yield under technology ranged from 1430 kg/ha 1800 mean 1664 kg/ha; which was 30.61 per cent higher over practice (1274 kg/ha). Morever, recorded district state average. study exhibited extension gap 391 kg/ha, 535 index 25.23 cent. Higher net return Rs. 71912/ha B:C ratio 2.36 obtained comparison practice. results clearly indicated beneficial impact front line towards enhancing productivity state, India.
